Cracking Under Pressure, tips to manage!

This blog post combines a Disney Movie and the weight on you may wear on your shoulders.

Have you seen Encanto?  In a cute 2 hour Disney movie, you’ll have catchy songs stuck in your head and a few scenes/characters may hit close to home!

 

Let’s chat about Luisa – one of the sisters of Mirabel a main character in the movie. Luisa’s magic power is incredible strength.

Tips on how to manage this so you don’t crack under the pressure

-Acknowledge it. Acknowledge the elephant or numerous plates you carry. It can feel like the weight of the world sometimes. Give yourself credit for all you do.

 

-This isn’t sustainable. I’ve never once seen a caregiver, a parent, a devoted employee- who can sustain the constant pressure and demands of the external world while neglecting their own self care.  However long it lasts, it comes with a diminished sense of self, and can lead to a road to chronic pain, depression, anxiety, resentment or heart issues due to high levels of constant stress. 

 

-Everyone is different. My version of self care would be VERY different from yours. Self exploration can be key to start to learn more about your stress triggers, your behavior tendencies so you can watch your own blindspots, and learn what tools might work for you.

 

-Explore emotional health tools. Some of my favorites are linked below. These tools can help you from folding. I enjoy yoga, diffusing my essential oils, and an affirmations book/journal to ground me.

 

-Find what you like and then make it stick. Resiliency and stress management is a life long skill. It’s a daily intention to wake up and be cognizant of the storm brewing within and how to best manage it.
